Best of 2016

The Internet seems to have once again united against a common enemy: the year 2016. While I agree that some aspects of last year were not great, for me personally, 2016 has been one of the best years of my life. Many amazing things happened and I was also able to travel a lot last year, which is always a big plus.

EVENTS

The absolute best month was definitely May, which was extremely eventful and filled with amazing things! First of all, I finished university at the beginning of the month. I studied communication in France for three years and right now, I really regret not continuing my studies for two more years since I really enjoyed what I was doing (ha, there is your first negative aspect of 2016).

I had not much time to rest once uni stress was over, since I went to two different concerts right after my exams: Simple Plan and Hans Zimmer Live. As much as I love the Canadian rock band, the Hans Zimmer concert was priceless. I listen to film scores on a daily basis and the fact that most of my favorite tracks were performed live that evening, was one of the greatest feelings.

If that wasn’t enough excitement already, the biggest event of 2016, hell of my life, was just around the corner: my trip to Japan. I went to Tokyo with friends for a week and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I miss it every single day and wish I could go back right away. In case you want to read about our Tokyo adventures, it’s right HERE!

Hardly a month after Japan, I went back to visit my boyfriend and his family in Dublin! I feel right at home in that gorgeous city and would love to spend more time there one day. August is synonym for Cologne and gamescom, which I visited again but for the first time with my best friend! It was a super fun trip and I really, really hope I can go back there this year as well. Finally, I went back to Disneyland Paris for a day in September which was extremely fun as well!

Trips aside, another personal big moment of 2016 was starting my driver’s license. It’s one of those things I a) didn’t really need until now and b) was scared of for so many years, that finally tackling it was a pretty big deal! I’m also really happy I finally revamped my blog last year since it was long overdue.

Things went downhill once October rolled around but let’s not focus on the negative aspects of 2016 here.

ENTERTAINMENT

I still wanted to talk about my favorite “fandoms” of 2016. To be honest, I haven’t really gotten into as many new things as I wanted, which is a shame.

My three favorite games were definitely Final Fantasy XV, Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break. I was unfortunately not able to finish games like Dishonored 2 or Watch Dogs 2, but I liked what I played so far. As for indies, I really enjoyed The Bunker and Firewatch. I’ve also replayed a good bunch of games like Alan Wake, the first two seasons of Telltale’s The Walking Dead to prepare for the third one, but also Uncharted 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4.

I was obsessed with Mob Psycho, Yuri on Ice and both Danganronpa series, but also adored anime like Erased, Boku no Hero Academia and Sakamoto desu ga this year. I started many other series which I have unfortunately not finished yet or just lost interest in. Let’s hope this will improve this year!

Captain America: Civil War, Fantastic Beasts, Rogue One, but also Now You See Me 2 and Doctor Strange have been some of my favorite movies I went to see last year. I also rewatched the three The Hobbit movies and started my Star Wars rewatch which were both really fun!

As for shows, my favorite ones were definitely 12 Monkeys, Stranger Things and The Walking Dead. Even if I’m still mad about the TWD season 6 cliffhanger, I still love the show and really like the recent seasons. I also cannot express how much I love 12 Monkeys and how more people should really watch and support this fantastic show!

One thing that I’ve really been neglecting last year is reading. I bought so many new novels, manga and comics but feel like I could have read so much more. So that’s definitely one thing I want to improve this year. All in all, 2017 will certainly not be as eventful as 2016 and I would rather keep my other projects secret for now.

Thanks for reading about my 2016 adventures. I wish everyone a wonderful New Year and hope it started on a positive note so far! (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
